- Information provided (where available)
- Format / title / tracks / country of release / year of release / label and catalogue number / EAN number
- Pictures
- If your browser uses javascript, pictures will pop up; otherwise a new window will be opened when clicking on a picture link.
- Browsers
- It is recommended to use the latest version of your browser for best viewing experience.
- Cd singles
- All cd singles are 5" cd singles unless noted otherwise
- All cd singles are released in a slimline jewelcase unless noted otherwise
- Tracklisting
- When a tracklisting is in two columns it means the original release was either a vinyl or a musicassette release. Those releases had an A and B side. The first column refers to songs on side A and the second column to tracks on the B-side of that release.
- Edits, remixes, "Live" versions or different language versions and such
- All the versions on these pages refer to the (original) full length release of a song. If the song is an edited, remixed or otherwise different release this is highlighted by using [xxx] and/or stating the playing time.
- Spelling errors
- On some releases the wrong spelling of song titles has been used (e.g. "Winner Takes It All", "Name Of The Game"). This especially is the case with compilation albums. On these pages you'll find the proper spelling.
- Bootlegs
- Sometimes it's not easy to find out whether releases from certain countries or areas are approved releases or not. Any information about bootlegs is just included for information purposes only.
- Updates
- There are various ways to get informed about updates on this site by using:
- Twitter - used for short messages about updates; sometimes used to retweet other ABBA/solo related news and interests
- Facebook - used for short messages about updates including pictures
- Yahoo Group - monthly message about updates that have taken place
- There are various ways to get informed about updates on this site by using:
- Expanding my own collection
- Unfortunately I don't own all the releases mentioned on these pages and I'm always interested in expanding my collection. If you have any ABBA/solo stuff to offer please let me know.
Information about record company sleeves, record labels and such:
- I try to include the original (picture) sleeves for all releases; however sometimes records were released in record company sleeves only. If I think they're original I'll try and include them; if not, I won't add the generic (mostly white) paper sleeves.
- Most 7" vinyl sleeves will have a paper bag kind of sleeve with an opening at the side or at the top. Sometimes fold out sleeves are used: these are printed on the outside and folded together they make up the front and back of the sleeve. Some countries which have used this kind of sleeve are Mexico, Australia and Scandinavia.
- In the USA there were six factories which produced the Atlantic vinyl singles. You can recognise the pressings by looking for "SP / MO / RI / PL / LY or AR" printed on the label, near the words "Stereo" or ""Mono".
- In Canada there were two factories pressing the Atlantic vinyl singles. You can recognise the pressings by looking for "S or Q" printed on the label, near the catalogue number.
- Promo vinyl singles on the American Atlantic label mostly used two colour codes: a blue label for "stereo" versions of a song and red/white labels for "mono" versions. Some white label pressings have been released too.
- Most likely Irish vinyl pressings have the same (picture) sleeve as the UK release.
- When it comes to label variations I will only show those labels to avoid multiple repeats of the same release. Howvever, if the (picture) sleeve is different I will include the sleeve.
- Releases made in country X but obviously made for country Y will most likely be listed under country X. In the notes there will be an explanation for which country the release was made. E.g. a Dutch pressing of the 7" Super Trouper" on the Epic label will be listed as a Dutch pressing made for the UK market.
- It seems Swiss 7" singles sleeves are the same as the German ones; one can only tell it's a Swiss release by looking at the record label.
- For an extensive explanation of the use of (picture) sleeves for singles and albums on the RCA label in Australia you should read the discography introduction at Ian Cole's site The ABBA Phenomenon In Australia (opens in new window).
- In Spanish speaking countries they tend to translate song titles into Spanish; this doesn't automatically mean they indeed are Spanish sung versions. There are only 15 Spanish songs by ABBA (see cd "Oro Grandes Exitos"), all the others are just translated song titles.
Why another ABBA web-site?
The main reason I started ABBA - The Releases in 1999 was the lack of websites with accurate information about ABBA/solo releases. Being a collector myself I'm always interested in finding out about different releases, different versions etc.. On these pages I will try to provide as much information as possible. If you have any information about releases you want to share please use the forms on the "Feedback & submissions" page.
I want to say "thank you" to the following people for their input into this website (in alphabetical order):
